The college has an elected Students’ Council to officially represent all the students of the college both within the institution and externally, including local, state-level and national issues. This body has subcommittees that deal with the multifarious activities of student life and provide a variety of services to students. Major functions of Students’ Council are:
The college also helps its students empowering with leadership qualities, soft skills, displaying their talents and understanding rules and regulations by ensuring their active and mandatory representation in various subcommittees such as Library Committee, Cultural Committee, Sports & Games Committee, Grievance Redressal Committee, Disciplinary Committee, Anti-ragging Committee etc. The Students’ Council also has representation in the IQAC core committee and the Governing Body of the college. It gives significant student centric inputs during decision making of the college’s Academic Council.

Cultural competitions have been arranged throughout the year as a workup to choose the best to perform at the college’s Annual Cultural function where the prizes for academic and cultural excellence have also been distributed. A special Drama Festival of the institute was organised in 2018 with great enthusiasm. The freshers have been ushered into various courses through the Fresher’s Welcome Ceremony as well as a warm welcome from their respective Departments, both organised by the Students’ Council.
The Council celebrates important events regularly like Swami Vivekananda’s Birthday, International Mother Language day, International Women’s day, Yoga Day, Teachers’ day, Rabindra Jayanti and organizes Blood Donation Camps every year with full zest. In 2018, 125th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s address at the parliament of World’s religion was specially celebrated.
The Council distributed books and examination kits to more than 200 needy school students in 2016-2017. Special activities were initiated to encourage our girl students during the academic sessions 2016-2017 and 2017-2018. They participated in the Ramp Walk at the Bishnupur Mela, an annual cultural fair of national importance for preserving the traditional art and craft, to showcase the traditional Baluchari art-form and uphold the cultural heritage of our state.
In a nutshell, the Students’ Council of our College have been active all year round in sports, socio-cultural events, celebrating important days while being equally engaging in academics and participating in college activities.
