Department of Bengali
The Bengali Department of the Ramananda College has a colourful history since its initiation in the college. Being run since the opening day in 1945 the Bengali Department has made the college honoured and its brilliance can be traced in the contemporary cultural development of the literature itself. Many a renowned professor, teachers, research associates are carrying forward the name of the college. At the same time they are famous in their own field. Some of the ex-students of the college are now promising editors and writers in contemporary little magazines and periodicals.
The department has three sanctioned teaching personalities, all well qualified and erudite to. One part time teacher is also shouldering the teaching personality. The curriculum laid down by the University of Burdwan is properly delineated, being properly divided in module and with respect available working days. The Bengali department, which has set its hesitant step once, is bouncing up into strides with bird’s eyes view to a glorious day.
The department of Bengali, Ramananda College, Bishnupur started from the very beginning of the college. In 1945, the teaching started in the intermediate level and it was affiliated to Calcutta University. In 1947 the department started its teaching in the undergraduate level only in the pass course and the honours classes have begun in 1959 under Calcutta University. As its stand at present the university authority admits the student in honours course through counselling following the norms laid down by the University of Burdwan.
It is the duty of the student of Bengali language and literature to carry on the rich and glorious tradition of the language. The Bengali department of Ramananda College nourishes individual talent to carry on the rich tradition and heritage of this field. While rearing individual skills as well as linguistic acumen in Bengali literature, the Ramananda College, Bengali department opens up multifarious opportunities before the individual talent to enrich and carry forward the glorious trend through their own creative genius. The department leaves no stones unturned in kindling this dormant and latent talent in acquiring their proper nourishment.
The last but not the least of all, the Bengali department of Ramananda College with promises of full cooperation of the authority proposed to begin post graduate classes subject to approval of the university.
