The Department of Zoology had its beginning in 1960 upon the up-gradation by the University of Burdwan of its Biology Department which was in-existence from 1948. The Department provides ample scope for adequate learning with well equipped laboratory and library facilities along with quality teaching. Seminars and Symposiums are organized at regular interval to encourage students taking part and learn new ideas of science besides their course curriculum. This provides a pedestal for higher learning amongst the interested students henceforth. Field excursions are held annually to get students acquainted with wide range of flora & fauna and biological diversity besides text books. Departmental freshers & farewell are organized by students with much enthusiasm and zeal every year. Department arranges picnic at winter session to ease the burden of studies and better interactions among students.
